An overview of your family dinner options


  1. Eating out in a restaurant can be fun, but takes a significant investment of time and money.  Getting the kids ready, driving through Bay Area traffic, finding parking, waiting for a table, ordering, eating and taking care of the bill and tip can easily take a couple of hours.  Eating out at a restaurant more than twice a week can become quite a burden.

  2. Costco or premade frozen dinners and snacks are convenient, especially if you have young children or teenagers in your family that need a quick meal, but it is not a healthy solution for all evenings due to the high amount of sodium and preservatives.

  3. Fast food is fast, easy, and cheap, but how many times can you eat fried chicken, greasy burgers or pizza dinners a week?

  4. Ordering out from a healthy elegant restaurant is attractive but can become very expensive. Meal for 2-4 could easily cost upwards of $60 dollars without counting the trouble and time for calling in and waiting in line for your food.

  5. New delivery services such as Doordash, UberEats, GrubHub and others offer instant ordering options without any planning necessary.  While convenient, these options can become quite expensive as they charge a delivery service fee, surge pricing during peak hours and optional tips.

  6. Over the last several years, Meal Kit Delivery Companies have tried to put together packages of “easy to prepare” meals that you can cook in your kitchen in around 15 minutes.  As professional chefs with many years of experience in home and commercial kitchens, we have tried many and found that most typically take 30-45 minutes to prepare, not including the time to clean all the dirty pots and pans.  Another issue is packaging.  Each ingredient item is individually wrapped and since most recipes have multiple ingredients, a significant amount of waste is created.


At Yami Grill, we think the core problem is the assumption that all their customers love cooking and are experienced home cooks. After a long day of work and hungry kids at night, many people do not have the time or energy to unpack and open individual ingredient packages, read a long set of IKEA-like instructions, find the proper utensils and cookware, cook the meal and then still have to clean the pots, pans and dishes.


The Yami Grill Difference


Our chefs, based on decades of cooking and catering experience, have designed and created a few dozen dinner entrée combinations that are all oven reheating friendly. You get an foil wrapped aluminum one time use tray and simple instructions on how to reheat. The instruction cannot be simpler: “Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Place foil wrapped container in the middle rack of the oven for X-Y minutes, pull it out of the oven, place on your favorite dinner plate, enjoy.” Where X-Y is typically 10-25 minutes.


After a long day of work, you can come home and preheat the oven, take care of the kids, put the tray in the oven and be ready for dinner when the timer goes off.


We cook each part of the dinner separately and to different degrees of readiness so that everything will be heated at the same time.  The vegetables should be crisp, the protein juicy and tender and the rice/noodles steaming hot.


We also disclose all the ingredients we use in your dishes, so that you know what you are eating. Most importantly, we source our ingredients locally from socially responsible suppliers, and we cater dozens of companies and hundreds of clients while serving hundreds of meals for eat-in customers daily, therefore, you can be confident that you are always getting the most fresh and healthy ingredients, right from the field to our kitchen and to your table.
